“Geoff is very well rounded as the website says, he can do all sorts of work. His skills cut across many different trades and he practiced all of them in renovating this once drab little house. He did the carpentry and drywall, flooring, restoration of delicate pressed-tin ceilings in most rooms, new ceilings with recessed lighting in one area, new oak floors, kitchen cabinets, appliances, counters and fixtures; new doors and windows, finish carpentry, plaster and painting, and restoration of the exterior wooden clapboards and trim at the rear of the house. All of this they did to a very high standard. Some years later, Geoff returned to replace all our windows and redo the roofing shingles over the bay window, two of the very few things he hadn’t done to the house at first.
Geoff was generous with his time and forthcoming with information. When you talk with him about doing work, he listens and thinks through it with you. It’s a bit like having a good architect, interior designer, and construction contractor all rolled into one. On top of that he is a delightful guy as are the people who work with him.
It would be hard to go wrong with Geoffrey Green.”

“From the beginning to the end Jeff was extraordinarily communicative, creative, friendly, and skillful. We had a complete gut and remodel of our tiny bathroom and kitchen in an old co-op building. Jeff worked VERY cooperatively with the building super and his team was VERY respectful of the common spaces. As there must be on every job, there were unanticipated impediments to our plans - nothing huge but these required on the fly solutions. Jeff always had lots of ideas and priced them out transparently, giving us a range of options at different budgets. He was also very open to our suggestions. This was very important to us - not only for the obvious reason (it’s our home and our money!) but also because during the bid process we did not always experience thoughtful listening from the male contractors we met with (we are a female couple). It is 2+ years since our renovation and we are still thrilled about it. Jeff was consistently on-site during the most intense part of the job and still regularly involved for the finishing stages. The job went slightly long and slightly over budget through no fault of his. This was due to the unexpected change orders that needed to be accommodated. Even after the job was mostly finished and there were a few remaining punch list items, he took the same amount of care and attention to get those just right. We had some problems with one of the vendors (the wallpaper application was not up to his or our standards) and he made sure that it was remediated with minimal cost to us. And I have to say that Jeff is extremely even tempered. Never did he show anxiety or a loss of patience. Having lived with this renovation for more than 2 years the quality has held up. There really is only one imperfection that we’ve noted, which is uneven tile placement in a small section of the bathroom wall. Seriously, that’s the only imperfection. Overall, Jeff and his team helped make a potentially stressful experience a fun and rewarding project.”

“Geoff was great. Very pleasant, open and helpful. He did not make me feel like an idiot woman who doesn't know what she's talking about - which is rare. He was good about consulting us/letting us know if small changes arose. The guys were pleasant but what is more important to me, they were so clean. They had to go through the whole apartment to do the work and it involved a lot of demo. The dust was kept to a minimum, they mopped every day, and the rest of the apartment was virtually undisturbed.”

He has a small, tight and consistent crew - the same people were here for my job from start to finish - not a parade of random workers - and they clearly took the work personally and seriously. Jeff was very available and clear in his communication - I planned to take over at the end and do some of the finishing work myself, and he was great about collaborating and open about discussing the steps and stages of the process. We also had some tricky design/technical issues - how to vent the stove hood, how to run the plumbing for a bathroom we wanted to move, for example - and he was great about talking it through in depth and coming up with solutions. His bid was competitive, he came in on budget, he communicates well, and the work was great - pretty much all you could ask for.“

We were living in our loft-like space as they renovated the kitchen. They built a wood-framed plastic covered wall to separate the work space from our reduced living area, and every day ended with them doing a thorough cleaning. Our house is old, so there were some unexpected wrinkles when walls came down, and Jeff and crew were great in discussing solutions that would work well without adding greatly to the cost. They did some gorgeous custom woodwork, tiling, and fitting appliances into very tight spaces. Being there, we could see and hear them thinking and talking through problems, so when the work was done, it got done right. I cannot recommend Geoffrey Green Home Improvements highly enough.”
